Mansfield Fire Department serves a population of approximately 75,000 citizens in a service coverage area of more than 36 square miles. Mansfield is located mostly within Tarrant County, and also shares a portion of Johnson and Ellis counties. As a result, the department provides mutual aid to various fire departments in the area.
Mansfield Fire Department handles more than 5,000 emergency incidents a year. Operations Division has three shifts, A, B, and C, with 25 firefighter/paramedics assigned to each shift. This allows the department to have a minimum of 26 firefighter/paramedics on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Each fire company has a captain that oversees their activities and each shift has a battalion chief that oversees the shift. The city is divided into five fire districts with one fire station per district.
