The Jacksonville Fire Department in Jacksonville, Oregon, has been serving the community since its establishment in 1883 as Jacksonville Engine Company No. 1. Transitioning from an all-volunteer organization, it now operates as a combination department with full-time firefighters, interns, and volunteers. In 2022, the department inaugurated a modern, earthquake-resistant facility—Station 19—at 180 N 3rd Street, which also houses the city’s Emergency Operations Center. The department is actively involved in community safety initiatives, including the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and has been selected to host a new Type-3 wildland engine through the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s readiness program.
