We would like to welcome you to the Hudson Fire Protection District, where we proudly serve the communities of Hudson, Lochbuie, and unincorporated Weld County!
The Hudson Fire Protection District is an all-hazard agency, providing services to approximately 96 square miles in southern Weld County, Colorado. We are committed to our customers, and it is our goal to provide quality fire suppression, fire prevention, public education, life safety, and property conservation, as well as emergency medical services, rescue and hazmat to the Town of Hudson, the Town of Lochbuie, and the surrounding rural areas. We contract our ambulance service with Intermountain Health Ambulance Services in which we house a full-time ambulance at our station 1 in Hudson.
The district is governed by a Board of Directors. Our Board of Directors meet at station 1 on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. The meetings are open to the public and begin at 6:00pm. Feel free to stop by!
The Hudson Fire Protection District is an all career fire department which has 33 Full-time career employees: 1 Fire Chief, 1 Assistant Chief, 1 Division Chief/Fire Marshall, 1 EMS Division Chief, 1 Training Division Chief, 3 Battalion Chiefs, 2 Captains, 4 Lieutenants, 6 Engineers, 12 Firefighters, and 1 District Administrator.
HOLY NEPOTISM, the childrens playhouse by the name of Hudson Fire is a joke. Run by a cool kids club who hate their jobs, the leader of which shares the last name as the chief. Terrible partner agency to work with. Goodluck to any other female medics there. There were some good people but what a joke of a department.
Resources, equipment, pay, and benefits are all great at Hudson Fire. Unfortunately a culture of complacency, retaliation, laziness, and bullying has been allowed to proliferate. While I was on, they were losing firemen every year. The union was fake and was working at the will of the chief who was in the union. If you had a grievance, it went to the chief. You ask a question as a firemen about why chief’s son is now a battalion chief? The chief knows immediately. The chief has a grip on the department like Kim Jong Un does on North Korea. He would turn his guys against eachother in a heartbeat to push members of the department out that thought differently. In fact he has such a grip on the department that people there think it is ok to talk to chief about ways to get other members of the department in trouble. You will become one of the chief’s little pets if you inform him of any conversation you overheard. You will be thrown a bone or 2 for this, in the form of a promotion dangling in front of your face, however that promotion will soon just be filled by chief’s son. If you work there and you don’t turn a blind eye to the nepotism, the lack of firemenship, the lack of culture, and the lack of standards, you will be punished.
