Shawn Dunstan is an assistant fire chief with the City of Fairfax, VA, Fire Department. Including his time as a volunteer in Stafford County, VA he is a 29-year veteran of the fire service, having held both operational and staff positions in various ranks. Dunstan is an EFOP graduate and has an A.A.S. in emergency health sciences, an A.A.S. in fire science technology, a bachelor’s in management and an master’s of public administration from George Mason University. He is designated as a chief training officer and fire officer through the Center for Public Safety Excellence and a certified public manager. Chief Dunstan is currently in charge of operations and has previously served as a battalion chief, captain, training captain, EMS lieutenant, public life safety education lieutenant and fire medic.
