I’m Mark Showmaker, a dedicated emergency services leader serving the communities of Lower Moreland Township and Bryn Athyn Borough through Fetters Mill Fire Rescue (FMFR) in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Originally hailing from Southampton in Bucks County, I now work to unify fire and EMS services across municipal lines and ensure public safety across our region.
In September 2023, I was appointed Chief (or Director) of Emergency Services under an intergovernmental cooperation agreement between Lower Moreland and Bryn Athyn that authorized a unified oversight for fire and EMS service delivery. My role is to lead the transformation and consolidation process of legacy volunteer fire companies into a modern, efficient, and resilient Fetters Mill Fire Rescue organization.
Current level of performance in this role is not meeting expectations. There is a clear and ongoing inability to make timely decisions and take ownership of outcomes. This has resulted in stalled progress, inconsistent direction, and unnecessary strain on the rest of the team.
Leadership at this level requires confidence, accountability, and the ability to act—especially when decisions are difficult. Right now, those qualities are lacking, and it is negatively impacting both operations and morale.
The only 5 stars deserved is stealing money from the municipalities that pay his salary
