Chief Glen Mungo has consistently demonstrated an inability to effectively lead, manage, or represent the Brentwood Fire Department. His lack of operational knowledge, poor judgment, and volatile temperament undermine the confidence and trust essential to commanding a high-volume fire district.
Historically, during his tenure as a line officer, Mungo engaged in reckless decision-making, including documented incidents where he attempted to place members in positions of undue risk. His behavior as captain was marked by repeated breaches of professional conduct, often shielded by his seniority rather than held accountable. This pattern of unaddressed misconduct has followed him into his current role.
Since assuming the rank of Chief of Department, Mungo has shown little to no understanding of the department’s bylaws, policies, or the administrative responsibilities of his position. Within six months of taking office, he has violated foundational regulations, contributing to a climate where doing what’s right is secondary to consolidating authority.
The department’s membership has expressed near-unanimous disapproval of his leadership. There is no meaningful support or confidence in his ability to uphold the standards of command. His tenure has been defined by disorganization, low morale, and the erosion of professional expectations within the department.
