Brent Looman is the Fire Chief for the Kentwood Fire Department. He started his career as paid-on-call sometime in the 90’s and shortly after moved to the prevention division, skipping full time suppression work all together. Once there he worked his way up the ranks and became the fire chief in 2011. His father was an officer on the suppression side of the department and his brother is a Fire Chief at a neighboring department.
How this guy became a chief (and remains one) is beyond anyone who works under him. Started out as paid on call and after he couldn’t get hired as full time, went to the prevention side and worked his way up there. From lying to getting others fired, it was clear that he had a vendetta against firefighters and wanted the top spot so that he could exercise his extreme controlling behaviors. Now that he is the chief of department, he has continued his trends of morale cutting efforts. From freelancing on the fireground, putting people’s lives in danger, breaking laws, and ignoring his actual job, this “chief” has made it very clear that when he says “it’s my department, I’ll do whatever I want”, he means it. This guy is an absolute joke to the fire service and will be doing everyone a favor when he leaves.
