Mixed bag here. A barely functioning department and if you’re not a medic they do not care about you or your time. They will barely help in furthering your career (you are on your own for EMT BASIC) and I am fully convinced this a a money laundering scheme for some of the higher ups. But I have met some of the best guys I’ve ever worked with and the culture on the line side of things is rarely anything but positive. I would only recommend this to someone who has no other way of getting into the fire service.
