Chief Edward M. Hales – Short Bio
Edward M. Hales, a fourth-generation firefighter, is the first full-time Fire & EMS Chief for Spanish Fork City. He began his fire service in 2001 as a volunteer in Pleasant Grove and became a full-time firefighter/paramedic with Lehi Fire in 2006. Over his career, he has served in leadership roles with Lehi and American Fork Fire, earning awards such as Firefighter of the Year (2012) and the “Always Ready” Chief’s Award (2019). Hales holds a fire science degree from Columbia Southern University and is a graduate of the U.S. Fire Academy’s Managing Officer Program. He currently serves on the Utah State Firefighters’ Association Board and has been tasked with building and leading Spanish Fork’s newly separated Fire & EMS Department.
