Originated in 1922 as part of Loma Linda University, becoming municipal in 1929 with 38 volunteers

Responds to both fire and advanced medical emergencies—each unit includes Paramedic/Firefighters equipped with EKGs, advanced airway tools, CPAP, meds, etc.

Offers a voluntary subscription “Fire Medical” program: $60/year per household to cover any leftover EMS costs not covered by insurance—no out-of-pocket fees for subscribers in city limits
