• Staffing & Classification
The department employs a full-time team of firefighters‑paramedics across roles such as the Fire Chief, Deputy Chiefs, Fire Marshals, Captains, Lieutenants, and a support staff (~54 personnel) ().
It holds an ISO Class 3 rating—indicating a strong fire‐suppression capability
Our chiefs have lowered the standards so bad that we currently have FF that have 3 years in the job that are still a huge risk to life and safety. They give us the ability as officers to evaluate them during probation but magically those evals don’t exist when it comes time to complete probation.
We hire anyone who has a pulse.
Our trucks are garbage, we have new trucks that are broken or can’t even fit all our equipment. They care more about uniforms and facial hair than making this dept better. Our chiefs have created such a reputation outside that no good qualified applicants will apply here.
This Department has some great employees, however for years it has been plagued with weak leadership and a system that has promoted numerous individuals to the highest ranks of Admin who have never served in any role as an officer on the line. They have no perspective of what it’s like to be in charge of a station.
These same individuals have pushed unqualified candidates who are totally incapable of doing the job through probation at the direct opposition of company officers.
Half of the fire trucks are too small to carry all the needed equipment, and most of the trucks are out of service the majority of the time due to buying the cheapest ones possible.
