The Bryan Fire Department operates out of five fire stations and provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the City of Bryan, as well as, EMS to the northern half of Brazos County.
Good city with potential for big growth. Fire chief is disconnected from his workforce if and when he is even there. City admin doesn’t care or doesn’t know about problems. Station with mold was only addressed when FFs started filling out exposure reports, 8 months after it was first reported. Newest station has had a portable ac unit for at least 18 months, the central AC never worked great. Apparatus have had multi quart a day oil leaks that were fixed “when we can get to it”. Been getting strung along about the potential for 48/96 for years. No plan for new station, no 5 year plan to speak of. Revolving door for FFs who are not vested. Some were told they would recieve a sign on bonus but never did. Fire chief can’t handle the truth, he is very good at getting upset and storming out.
We do have 4 man staffing, 2 sets of good quality gear, and some of the guys are really trying to fix this place. Crew cohesion is high due to a common adversary.
