The Prescott Fire Department has been in continuous existence since 1885. We have a proud and long-standing tradition of serving our community to meet various public safety needs. We are an all hazards, career, fire-based EMS department located in the central mountains of Arizona. We provide structural, wildland, and aircraft fire suppression; are the primary providers of emergency medical service, including pre-hospital care, advanced, and basic life support; hazmat response and technical rescue; and community risk reduction (prevention, education, and fuels mitigation) within the City of Prescott.
For our citizens, this means we are prepared to manage any emergency that may arise. We have extensive collaborative relationships with other response agencies, community partners, and private entities to supplement our ability to manage any emergency that arises. In addition, the department provides full-service community risk reduction programs to include plan review, fire inspections, and managing wildland-urban interface risks.
The department serves the community from 5 fire stations and serves a population of 46,833 over 42 square miles and participates in a dynamic closest unit dispatching system with our key partner, the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority. Overall, the City of Prescott Fire Department has an authorized staff of 77 personnel, of which 65 are assigned to emergency operations, with the remaining staff serving in community risk management, training, and administrative roles. We also have part-time staff and volunteers who assist in specific roles to ensure efficiency.
