CAL FIRE, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, is the state agency responsible for fire protection and resource management in California. It protects over 31 million acres of wildlands and provides emergency services in 36 of California’s 58 counties. CAL FIRE’s mission includes wildfire prevention, fire protection, and resource management, encompassing activities like fuels reduction, fire planning, and law enforcement. They also respond to a wide range of emergencies, including structure fires, accidents, and natural disasters.
Lots of opportunity for advancement and potential to be very busy gaining experience. Some places can have high turnover of management and a lot of forced overtime during heightened fire activity.
Drastically understaffed, especially at the Firefighter-Paramedic rank leading to an outrageous amount of Forces/Mandos.
Due to the high rate of forces everyone is forced to **** their buddy.
Scheduling rules are merely suggestions and you will be coerced into working forces that you should not have been assigned.
If you are not a medic it’s great, lots of fires and overall a good time.
If you are a medic get ready to work at least two years on a god-forsaken ambulance in the desert.
